AR drawing allows you to draw 3D images with AR on the real world. "Stories" was first implemented in Snapchat, but has quickly been adopted by rivals Facebook and Instagram, which have launched their own Stories.
"We wanted to give people an easy way to create with augmented reality and draw in the world around them" says John Barnett, a Facebook Camera Product Manager about the feature it calls "3D drawing". We don't know to what extent would the company allow backing up the user data, whether it will be limited to simply letting users download all the photos and videos they have uploaded so far or will they also be getting a backup of all the Stories they have archived and all the messages they have sent.
It's an interesting and fun feature to be fair to the firm, but Facebook Stories is still of dubious relevance at this stage. People can soon draw scribbles before or during recording and then move the camera around to see the markings stay in place.
Boomerang is smoother in this regard, and so it is now coming to the Facebook Camera to replace the social media's own looping tech.
The AR technology should also be able to detect objects from surfaces.

The new Augmented Reality is what amazes the masses over the Internet and the giant is now adding AR based doodles to your stories by making use of 3D Drawing.
For optimal effect, it only wraps drawings around objects if it is confident about the object that it has detected.
Now users can make use of Instagram's Boomerang feature when capturing videos via Facebook's in-app camera.
Facebook has been pushing its Stories tool aggressively, despite a muted response from users.
The details of this feature are yet to be finalized and Instagram did not go into any detail at the moment. Now there is also a new AR feature to help in the same. Facebook Stories has not been able to duplicate that success yet, but the company likely hopes that integrating the established Boomerang brand will change this.
