Close on the heels of the impending launch of the OnePlus 6, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has rolled out the latest software update for its 2017 smartphones, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. Along with this, it brings support for the latest full-screen gestures (like the ones on iPhone X) albeit only on the OnePlus 5T.
OnePlus has started rolling out OxygenOS 5.1.0 update for OnePlus 5 and 5T which upgrades both these smartphones to Android 8.1 Oreo. Not all OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users will see the new Android Oreo 8.1 update on their phones. However, you can go into the "System Updates" section in the phone's settings to check if your phone is ready to download the update.
The updates come with new features and bug fixes as well.
While the OxygenOS updates are relatively minor in comparison, the key change of course comes with the primary system update to Android 8.1 Oreo. This is otherwise known as the OxygenOS 5.1.0 update, which includes Google's latest Android improvements in addition to the latest April security patch. New features on the OxygenOS 5.1.0 include changes to the gaming mode and Launcher.
