Ryzen 2 chips are already being overclocked beyond 5.8 GHz

AMD launches 2nd gen Ryzen CPUs starting Rs 12990, claims to be world's fastest

AMD officially launches Ryzen 7 2700x, 2700, Ryzen 5 2600x and 2600 CPUs

Additionally AMD has also launched their new X470 chipset motherboards which use the same AM4 mount as the previous gen X370 boards. The case for Ryzen 2nd Gen is particularly interesting, as AMD has switched over to the 12nm process.

These four new models represent the new offers from AMD to give PC users "disruptive levels" of computing performance at their respective price points, which are generally much lower compared to the equivalent, closest-performing counterpart from Intel.

AMD Ryzen 2000 CPUs and APUs are just a few days away from launch, however, before these CPUs could get released benchmarks for Ryzen 2000 have started to pour in and one such gaming benchmark for AMD Ryzen 7 2700X has popped up online.

All 2nd gen Ryzen desktop processors ship with the new AMD Wraith cooling unit, which AMD says offers improved thermal performance over the Wraith Max, a more compatible fan profile and enhanced lighting capabilities with per-RGB controls. This is due to smart turbo functionality, low memory and cache latency and better Inter-core communication.

Out of the box, the upcoming second-generation Ryzen 7 has been clocked at 4.3GHz, with that top speed only being delivered on one of the processor's cores. For $329, it's meant to replace the Ryzen 1800X and 1700X which first came out at $499 and $399, offering a faster chip for even less. The new model is also competitively priced to go against Intel's Core i7-8700K, which is being sold for around $350. Famed overclocker der8auer previously reached 5905 MHz using a Ryzen 5 1600X.

The Ryzen 5 2600 is the most affordable chip announced this week, at $199.

AMD finally opened up pre-orders for its second-generation of Ryzen chips last week, with the processors set to arrive this Thursday (April 19).

2600X - six cores, 12 threads, 19MB of cache. For those willing to hold out for now, the Zen 2 design is expected to come out next year.
