Virginia State Police said one person was killed when a small plane crashed in western Albemarle County near Crozet Sunday night, WCAV reported.
One fatality has been confirmed in a plane crash that happened in Medina County on Sunday morning, according to the Medina County Sheriff's Office. Steep terrain and weather conditions complicated rescue efforts.
The FAA said the Experimental Challenger II aircraft took off from a private airstrip around 8:00 p.m. State police are still in the process of positively identifying the decedent.
