Unnao victim's statement recorded in CBI Court

Unnao: Family of the 17-year-old rape victim on Sunday alleged that "goons" of accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar threatening villagers to keep quiet in connection with the case.

"We have doubts over the investigation and there are reasons for it".

CBI officials told TOI that Atul Singh Sengar, younger brother of accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, would also be taken into custody and interrogated about the whole episode. The test was carried out at the Lohia hospital here.

The crime branch submitted two charge sheets against eight people including a juvenile for allegedly raping and murdering the girl in January this year. She kept mum on media questions about her family and whether she was being implicated in the case. "The influence of the accused is such that the circle officer also declined to lodge the report on the complaint duly forwarded by the office of the chief minister", it said.

The third case is related to the alleged attack on the teenager's father on April 3 by the MLA's brother, who was charged him with voluntarily causing hurt after a brawl.The father died on April 9 during treatment while in judicial custody. According to the post-mortem examination report, he had suffered serious injuries.

The other accused, Shashi, had allegedly taken the victim to Sengar on the day of crime, and stood guard outside the door as the heinous crime was allegedly committed inside by the MLA and others.

At the outset, the victim's counsel Indira Jaising, who mentioned the matter for an urgent hearing in the forenoon, said the "biological father" of the victim had no grievance with regard to the police probe.
