He was later released but trouble is not over for the controversial senator as more than 30 armed policemen stormed his residence in Abuja this afternoon to re-arrest him.

"But I was then cycled by police officers trying to hold me and saying I am on Interpol wanted list", Mr. Melaye said.

The police operatives refused to speak with journalist, but allowed people in and out of the house.

Earlier in the day, Melaye was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja and prevented from boarding a flight to Morocco.

Melaye who represents the Kogi West senatorial district of Kogi State is no stranger to controversy.

He was arraigned on a case of conspiracy and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms already filed before a Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State. He noted that the police have not invited him formally neither there has been any warrant issued against him to warrant the harassment.

According to The Washington Post , the surgery took place at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore in March and lasted 14 hours . Two years ago, a similar procedure was done to penile cancer patient Thomas Manning at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The people, who were later identified as Internally Displaced Persons from Kuchingoro Camp, Abuja, sat down in front of the embattled lawmaker's mansion while railing against the police move to arrest Melaye.

The security agencies has not made public the reasons for his arrest. According to him, his brother and a friend had been arrested by police. They now laid siege on, in and around the house, his tweet added.

A Nigerian lawmaker Dino Melaye has decried what he calls intimidation from the the police force. There is also a plan to set me up again.

Melaye announced this on his Twitter page.

"Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport is not within our command".
