Apple didn't suddenly program Siri to speak in vulgarities.

"As a noun, it means 'short for motherfucker, ' want to hear one more?"

Strangely enough, this unexpected response to asking Siri to define the word mother occurs across almost all iOS devices - confirmed to be present on devices from the iPhone 5S all the way up to the iPhone X and iPads. Also, it is stated in the dictionary that the word is of vulgar slang. It is said that Siri is getting the definition from Oxford Dictionary.

Apple's virtual assistant Siri is under fire after it came to light that it has a surprising definition for the word "mother".

As some Reddit users recently learned, asking Apple's voice-controlled personal assistant to define the word "mother" yields a shockingly inappropriate second response.

Then Siri will inform you that mother can be shorthand for "motherf--", a definition that counts as "vulgar slang".

If you say, "yes" you'll get an entirely different take. Google assistant, Amazon Alexa, Microsoft Cortana and Siri are the popular ones being used widely.

Apple has not responded as yet to the the discovery and you can be assured that the company will fix this once it hears of it. In such case, how could it define it without giving a warning? While there are some issues in the fact that she chose the fourth secondary definition as the option to provide when prompted to give more information, this seems to be a problem on Oxford's Dictionary rather than Siri herself.
