The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, which doles out Oscar awards every year, finally expelled movie director Roman Polanski from its organization - 40 years after he admitted to raping a 13-year-old girl then fled the country.

Cosby was last week convicted of sexual assault. The 80-year-old faces up to 30 years in prison. "Bill Cosby was labeled as guilty because the media and accusers said so".

The decision comes a week after a jury found Bill Cosby guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home 14 years ago.

The New York Times broke the bombshell story about Weinstein in early October, disclosing explosive allegations of the Hollywood mogul's 30-year pattern of sexual harassment and workplace intimidation against numerous young female stars and employees. Cosby has also been expelled from the Television Hall of Fame.

The organization announced Thursday that the actor and the Academy Award-winning director were expelled in accordance with the organization's efforts to encourage ethical standards that show "respect for human dignity", according to the Hollywood Reporter.

"It is to secure the future of the country and galvanise it on the path of real development", he said. Is this new front in making keen to include the Congress or not is something that needs to be seen.

Despite never having won an Oscar, Cosby has been a member of the Academy for many years. Cosby has been accused of sexual assault by as many as 60 women, a few of which testified at the emotional hearing.

Polanski's latest film, Based on a True Story, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year, and was scheduled to be distributed in the USA this year by Sony Pictures Classics.

The #MeToo movement brought at least 11 other accusations against Polanski to light last fall. If they were going to kick Cosby out due to his own conviction, by what logic would they leave Polanski a member in good standing? Weinstein has denied having non-consensual sex with anyone.

Adopted in December, the code of conduct stipulates that the academy is no place for "people who abuse their status, power or influence in a manner that violates standards of decency".
