Twitter asks users to change passwords

Twitter on Thursday apologized and asked users to consider changing passwords for their accounts after the company said it identified a bug in their systems that unmasked passwords internally.

The glitch was related to Twitter's use of "hashing" and caused passwords to be written on an internal computer log before the scrambling process was completed, the blog said. "We have fixed the bug, and our investigation shows that there are no signs of penetration or misuse", - said in a statement.

Change your password on Twitter and on any other service where you may have used the same password.
