Uber to work with the US Army to make quiet aircraft rotor technology to be used in future flying cars

The CEO says Uber Air passengers will be able to request a trip via its smartphone app, then head to designated rooftop takeoff and landing sites for the ride. The company said testing will begin in 2020, with Dallas-Fort Worth and Los Angeles as the first test sites.

Uber has shared more details on a flying vehicle that could eventually transport you around cities.

According to a new report from CNBC, Uber has hired a roster of senior NASA and aerospace employees in the past year to deliver chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi's plans for swarms of robot-driven airborne vehicles that transport passengers across cities.

Such technology would be a first for existing flying craft, according to a joint statement from the U.S. Army and Uber.
