Israel's military went on high alert Tuesday and bomb shelters were ordered open in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights following reports of "irregular activity of Iranian forces in Syria". It said defense systems have been deployed.
"Launches of about 20 missiles were registered at around midnight toward the frontier positions in the Golan Heights by Iran's al-Quds forces", an Israeli army spokesman told reporters.
The rockets fire struck near the border with Syria.

Judge orders Jay-Z to testify in SEC probe
Jay-Z did not appear at the court hearing, disappointing some spectators who came to lower Manhattan courthouse hoping to see him. A NY judge says Jay-Z must answer questions from the Securities and Exchange Commission in a financial probe by the regulator.
Nonetheless, the army has predicted that such an attack would not lead to a full-fledged war. He also expressed his hope that Russian Federation and Israel would eventually find "solutions that would lead to the easing of tensions and would allow resolving heated conflicts".
After the attack was reported Wednesday night, IDF Spokesperson Ronen Manelis told reporters that the attack was carried out by members of the Iranian Quds force and that Israel views the incident gravely. The IDF spokesperson described the troop movements as "abnormal" and has warned residents of the area to watch out for instructions.
This is not the first reported missile strike by Israel on Syria.
Netanyahu and Putin have held a series of meetings and phone conversations in recent months, particularly related to the conflict in Syria where Israel has vowed to prevent Iran building a military presence. Israeli is believed to have struck that base in December of a year ago.
