E3 2018: Bethesda Goes All-In on Skyrim: Very Special Edition Joke

The Skyrim Very Special Edition will be available on Amazon Alexa, the Etch-a-sketch, Motorola pagers (specific models to be determined), and Samsung smart refrigerators, which will bring a whole new level of depth to those trips to the Nordic north.

After tapping the button say "Alexa, Play Skyrim" and the game begins.

Bethesda Softworks Some "Skyrim" fans took the video as a joke and believed it was a not-so-subtle nod to Bethesda's numerous remasters of the almost seven-year-old game, all of which have made their way to current generation consoles, including the Nintendo Switch.

During the company's E3 keynote Sunday, Bethesda made light of their constant porting of the iconic game by presenting the audience with a humorous trailer, touting the benefits of a new Skyrim Very Special Edition, made just for your favorite in-home virtual assistant. As it turns out, however, it wasn't a spoof, and Skyrim: Very Special Edition is an Alexa game that actually exists.

As part of the company's E3 showcase, they threw in a insane video starring Keegan-Michael Key to show us their latest, most ultimate versions of Skyrim yet.

As far as Skyrim ports go, this one is obviously pretty bare bones - you don't get to select your race like you do in other Skyrim ports, though you do have options when it comes to combat. "Should work", says our resident Alexa expert. Be sure to check it out and let us know what you think.
