Indian researchers at Physics Research Laboratory (PRL), for the first time, have succeeded in detecting a planet revolving around a star.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has made great strides in recent years, setting new records for satellite launches and putting a probe into orbit around Mars - all for incredibly efficient prices. The planet that revolves around the sun was discovered by measuring its mass by "PRL Advance Radial-velocity Abu-Sky Search" (PARAS) spectrograph integrated with 1.2m telescope at PRL's Gurushikar Observatory in Mount Abu.
Being that close, you might think that the planets would be unbearably hot but the scientists say that might not be the case. Such a high temperature might make it uninhabitable for living creatures. With this, India joins the elite club of countries that have discovered planets. K2-239 has a compact system, and three of its planets have a similar size to Earth, which orbit that star once every 7.8 and 10.1 days. The host star is named EPIC 211945201 or K2-236.
This latest planet was also first spotted and listed as a candidate planet by Kepler, but it was a team of Indian scientists that confirmed it was a planet, rather than simply a comet or another astronomical object - which is the tricky part.
LeBron James "pretty much" broke hand out of frustration after Game 1
Will he go to the Sixers or go out West to Los Angeles? "But after a game like that, I'm not in any position to talk about that". The possibility remains that Cleveland could retool and make another run, but doing so would require some serious creativity.
White House adviser says Canada's Trudeau 'stabbed us in the back'
In a mocking tone, Kudlow rattled off the reasons Trudeau offered for his barbed critique of Trump's policies. But unity was torn apart when the USA president took exception to Mr Trudeau calling USA policy "insulting".
The New Command and Conquer
EA announced the new mobile title alongside Anthem and a battle royale mode for Battlefield V at the EA Play event in Los Angeles. Although the game is not available for download yet, Android players are able to register to play the game in early access.
The quest to find life beyond Earth has led to the discovery of two new planetary systems.
On the other hand, only a few such accurate and powerful spectrographs exist around the world, the majority of which being in the U.S. and Europe. The PRL scientists observed the target over a time-baseline of 420 days (in about 1.5 years) using the PARAS spectrograph for probing the nature of the system. The total mass of these elements was calculated at about 60 to 70 percent of planet EPIC's total mass.
Otherwise, the planets are probably inhospitable: they are very close to their star and therefore very warm.
The other system has two much larger planets.
