Neal Boyd, ‘America’s Got Talent’ Season 3 Winner, Dies at 42

Boyd has passed away at the age of 42. TMZ reports that his cause of death was heart failure.

Boyd won the network TV show and its $1 million prize in 2008.

According to TMZ, the star had "a known health condition" relating to his heart and there will be no autopsy carried out.

Scott County Coroner Scott Amick told the Associated Press that Boyd died of heart and kidney failure and liver disease related to his weight. He released his debut, and only, album, "My American Dream", in June 2009.

When news broke of Boyd's passing, British media personality Piers Morgan - who at the time was a judge on the Boyd's season, along with Sharon Osbourne and David Hasselhoff - expressed his sympathy on Twitter, as did celebrity gossip columnist Perez Hilton.

It's claimed that Neal was at his mother's home in Sikeston, Missouri in the U.S. when he died.

Just a year before his passing, Boyd and his mother, Esther, were in a major auto accident after he blacked out behind the wheel. "[Recovery is] a very slow progress". Just be grateful that you survived. He also ran for a seat in the Southeast Missouri House of Representatives, though he was not victorious in 2012 or in the general election in 2014.
