Meghan lines up first solo outing with the Queen

As you may have seen over the weekend, Meghan Markle made her royal balcony debut during Saturday's Trooping the Colour ceremony.

The new Duchess of Sussex notably stood behind her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, and brother-in-law, Prince William - and it all came down to a royal "pecking order".

"She was not as prominent perhaps as some people might have expected, but there's a pecking order", Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, tells PEOPLE.

One of the main reasons he does this, according to the report, is because Meghan - as an American and someone who is not of royal blood - isn't familiar with the customs and the protocol that comes with Duchess-forward fashion.

The first engagement Kate attended alone with the Queen was almost a year into her marriage to Prince William. Meghan has never earned a major award nomination for Suits, so it would be a surprise if she did appear on the shortlist - we've got our fingers crossed!

Meghans blush pink ensemble also resembled a similar outfit worn by late Princess Diana at a previous Trooping The Colour celebration.
