PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is celebrating becoming one of the "world's most played games this year" by knocking a third off the price of the PC version of the game on Steam.

The PUBG sale is now live, so you can get the game at the discounted price by heading to the game's Steam page and purchasing it there. Roughly 227 million players engage in PUBG's particular murder-death-kill competition every month. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, nicknamed PUBG for short, is a very similar game. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is getting a paid, timed event called the Event Pass where players complete objectives to earn unlockables.

The Event Pass lasts for four weeks, and will have daily objectives, weekly objectives and Sanhok specific objectives as an incentive for playing in Sanhok.

If you want to unlock content from Sanhok Event Pass permanently, you'll need to buy into it. While the content unlocked will be themed around Sanhok, players will be able to complete the required tasks to unlock the content on any of the game's maps. It'll be rolled out alongside Sanhok on June 22.

"Just like the crate and key system, you'll be able to get rewards in the Event Pass system regardless of whether you made a purchase", PUBG Corp explained in a lengthy blog post. The new feature gives players a chance to enjoy a "trackable progression-related system" that unlocks rewards through game play.

No price was given for the Sanhok Event Pass, but a price will be announced some time before Friday's launch of the new content.
