Lee added, "We can get into the fact that he's wildly unpopular in my state in part because my state consists of people who are members of a religious minority church - a people who were ordered exterminated by the governor of Missouri in 1838 - and statements like that make them nervous".
WASHINGTON-President Donald Trump headed into the weekend still undecided about whom he will pick for the Supreme Court, but people familiar with the process said they believe he is moving toward selecting Judge Brett Kavanaugh ahead of a Monday announcement.
It's why the pro-life views of Barrett, a devout Catholic and mother of seven, have loomed large in the debate. Why is he an appealing nominee?
Kavanaugh, 53, is a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit who has a background in politics. He's a known quantity in the legal conservative movement.
The stakes are sky high for filling the opening created by Justice Anthony Kennedy's imminent retirement. He ruled in favor of police's ability to gather cellphone tower location information (the Supreme Court and Chief Justice John Roberts ruled the other way); upheld a MI law that barred public schools from collecting union dues from their teachers, and required unions to do the collecting themselves; upheld a mandatory minimum sentence for a man who pleaded guilty to drug charges, even though Congress had reduced the mandatory minimum between the man's guilty plea and sentencing; and struck down a complaint brought by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that said Kaplan's use of credit checks on job applicants had a discriminatory effect on African Americans. He is, in many ways, a very appealing candidate.
"I think the single best choice that President Trump could make to fill this vacancy is Sen".
Cuccinelli's remark was a wry reference to another contender, Coney Barrett, whom social conservatives unsure about Kavanaugh have rallied behind this week. Judge Barrett already has more judicial experience than Elena Kagan had when she was nominated to the Supreme Court, so any liberal opponents will be unable to claim that Barrett needs more judicial experience.

WWE Comments on Brock Lesnar's UFC 226 Appearance
Hard-hitting heavyweight star Mark Hunt is the last man to have fought Lesnar in the Octagon at UFC 200 in 2016. Lesnar was more than happy to oblige, shoving Cormier and screaming, "Touch me now, you go to sleep later".

As he departed, he said he had made progress on "almost all of the central issues," although work remained to be done. Despite Pompeo's positive depiction of the events, signs had emerged that things weren't going as well as hoped.
Amy Coney Barrett This 2017 photo provided by the University of Notre Dame Law School in South Bend, Ind., shows Judge Amy Coney Barrett. But her main rejoinder to Hawley is that he has signed on to a lawsuit from 20 conservative states that takes aim at the Affordable Care Act's protections for people with pre-existing conditions - one of the most popular portions of the law. Additionally, three Democrats - including Donnelly and Manchin - supported Barrett when Trump nominated her to the bench a year ago. Hardiman is based in Pittsburgh where he had a private law practice from 1992 to 2003 until he became a judge.
"The nominees share one basic characteristic - their hostility to progress that's been made in women, workers and civil rights as well as health and safety over the past several decades", she said. Nearly everyone was a Catholic on that court. They seem to have momentum. "We know the list was put together by the Federalist Society and Heritage Foundation, those are two organizations that are devoted to a very, very conservative vision of law", said Shapiro. Kethledge, of MI, is a judge on the Cincinnati-based 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Like Kavanaugh, Kethledge is a former Kennedy clerk and would no doubt cite that experience in attempting to appeal to moderates.
But Judge Kavanaugh also has his defenders, among them Matt Schlapp, president of the American Conservative Union and CPAC. He, in some ways, could be nearly like a lower risk - you could argue for conservatives a lower award perhaps than Judge Kavanaugh, in the sense that he doesn't have as much in his background that would be quite as controversial.
LAT: Judge Hardiman is a judge on the 3rd Circuit. He also was a colleague of Trump's sister, Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, who stopped hearing cases a year ago. He's also seen as a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. He was a trial court judge before he joined the appeals court.
WERTHEIMER: OK. Who's your pick? Griffin said at that point, Schumer would likely tell them, "I need you, because the argument would be defeat of the candidate is paramount".
Although Cruz has depicted his championing of Lee as being motivated primarily by ideology, it may not hurt that the two of them are also good friends. I'll have a decision made in my mind by Sunday.
