After months of industry rumors and speculation, Warner actually moving forward with their Joker origin film, with Academy Award-nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix having been officially cast in the title role.

Jared Leto still reportedly has that solo Joker movie in development, so as of now it doesn't sound like Joaquin's film will definitely replace Jared's.

The idea of changing the Joker from a young husband and future father into a solitary, social pariah living with his invalid mother makes the villain an even more tragic figure. I don't really care about the genre, I care about the character and the filmmaker.

However insiders claim the finished film could be ready for a late 2019 release.
