A new Mac Mini is finally on the way

The MacBook Pro models just introduced include faster processors and better displays, but the most important new feature might be the keyboard. The unit will bring high-end desktop-class graphics processing to MacBook Pro for professional video workflows while also being the first to support Thunderbolt 3 displays. Previous rumors have suggested this machine could be a 12-inch MacBook, so Apple may be planning to expand the MacBook lineup with an additional low-priced option to replace the MacBook Air. The new 15-inch MacBook Pros can be specced out to include 8th-generation, six-core Intel Core i9 CPU, AMD Radeon Pro 555X graphics, and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. It is hard to know what exactly will be delivered there but they will undoubtedly deliver improved performance/power efficiency as is always claimed between processor generations. In India, the 13-inch model starts at Rs. 1,49,900 while the 15-inch model starts at Rs. 1,99,900 - both will be available via select Apple Authorised Resellers later this month.

Alongside the new notebooks, Apple launched something interesting as well. Apple's perceived negligence in updating its Mac-products regularly results in criticism from its long time fans and the press.

The "butterfly" keyboard in MacBook Pro models since 2016 have sparked a well-publicized recall petition and multiple lawsuits. The difference in travel between the old and new models is 1.3mm and 0.7mm, which is pretty significant.

The enhanced devices are also part of Apple's Back to School promotion, which starts today and is available to college students, their parents, faculty and staff through the Apple Education Store.

This new third-generation keyboard wasn't created to solve those issues, Apple says. The company said in a press release that the 15-inch model is up to 70 percent faster, while the 13-inch model is twice as fast.

Indeed, for those who had got used to being able to plug in their existing peripherals to the MacBook Pro's ports, and use the SD card slot, having to embrace the "dongle life" sometimes seemed too much of a change.

It comes with Apple's own T2 system on chip for security features, plus a True Tone Retina display that adjust the white balance based on the ambient lighting and viewing circumstances.
