Tourist impaled by beach umbrella on Jersey Shore

Part of the aluminium umbrella was driven completely through due to the "force of the wind", the Asbury Park Press reported.

A 67-year-old woman visiting from England was impaled by a beach umbrella when a wind gust sent it flying into her ankle on the Jersey Shore, according to a report.

At about 4 p.m., officers responded to a first aid call on the beach at Hiering Avenue in Seaside Heights.

There has been no update on her condition.

One eyewitness, Instagram user Ricky Z, posted photos of the scene. This lady had an umbrella go through her leg 5 feet away from me!

"She screams "My leg" to which I thought she had probably broken it because she was laying on her side with the umbrella sideways over her", he said.

The incident occurred late Monday afternoon at a beach in Seaside Heights.
