Jurgen Klopp updates on Nabil Fekir transfer after Allison signs

Alisson has revealed how last season's Champions League trip to Anfield lit the fuse for what has become a world-record transfer to Liverpool.

Roma confirmed Liverpool will pay a €62.5 million (£56m) fee, surpassing the €40m (£34.7m) Manchester City paid Benfica for Ederson in 2017.

Alisson clinched his £67 million move to Liverpool from Roma on Thursday evening.

Roma and Liverpool are "at a very advanced stage" in finalizing the transfer of Brazil worldwide goalkeeper Alisson for a reported $87 million world record fee for a goalkeeper, according to the Italian club's sporting director Monchi. We didn't sign him because he is good looking and a nice fella and his English is good and all that stuff - we signed him obviously because he is a world-class goalkeeper.

"In terms of my life and my career, it's a huge step for me being part of this club and this family", Alisson added. As the negotiations were at an advanced stage, I replied to him straight away saying: "Calm down, I'm on my way!"

The Reds seemed to have opened the door for the Welsh global after inching closer to the securing Alisson's signature.

Despite this, Liverpool could only finish fourth as their inconsistent league form saw them fail to mount a title challenge.

New Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri will be determined to sign Alisson, with the club facing the prospect of losing some of their best players this summer.

Roma teammate Diego Perotti told Sky Sport Italia that he was sorry to see Alisson leave: "He was a really important goalkeeper for us and his saves rescued a lot of points and games last season, but that is football", he said. I want them to know we're working to build a stronger team.
