"I think if you look in our library, Buffy is probably the most ripe show we have for bringing back", Newman said at the INTV Conference in March. However, it is unclear how much more involvement in the series that Joss Whedon will have due to his busy schedule. A new report from Deadline says that 20th Century of Fox has hired Monica Breen to write for the show as well as serve as showrunner for the series. It seems that the reboot is only in the infancy stage of development at this time, especially since a cast has yet to be determined as well. Joss Whedon's cult hit drama took his original idea, which was made into a fine 1992 movie but not what Whedon had envisioned, and became one of the best shows of its generation, spawning a die-hard fandom with its great characters, sharp writing, and powerful drama. The story later continued in comic book form once the series ended.

"It's the ultimate metaphor: horrors of adolescence manifesting through these actual monsters", Gellar told Entertainment Weekly when the cast reunited a year ago to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

"I've been WAITING and WAITING for this buffy reboot for the past GOD knows how many years and i FINALLY RECEIVE no one is raining on my parade! today is a good day!" wrote Twitter user @bargalaxies. There's a lot to live up to, but at least Whedon is on board to give his blessing.
