Symptoms of WNV include headache, fever, neck discomfort, muscle and joint aches, swollen lymph nodes and a rash that usually develop 2 to 14 days after being infected.
"Today's announcement reminds all Pennsylvanians to be vigilant and take precautions to protect against mosquito bites".
The health department routinely tracks mosquito-borne illnesses, including Zika.
Wear light-colored, lightweight clothing with long sleeves and long trousers when outdoors at dawn or dusk.
Although mosquitoes can bite at any time of the day or night, the mosquitoes that transmit WNV are most active at dawn and dusk.

The pools of mosquitoes that tested positive for the virus were collected in unincorporated areas of Sarasota County near Venice, an area that Sarasota County Mosquito Management Services has already treated. As a precaution, the Maryland Department of Agriculture is spraying nearby areas.
"To date, we've had two positive pools, one positive bird, but no human cases in Winnebago County".
According to the release, samples are being sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for confirmatory testing.
