Henry Cejudo ended Demetrious Johnson's almost six-year reign as the UFC flyweight champion Saturday night, earning a split-decision victory for a stunning upset at UFC 227.

"I felt very disrespected all week, with all of the talk of a super fight so I am standing here now to say that I want the victor of the main event", said Cejudo. "From being knocked down in the first round, I went on and beat the greatest of all-time".

Cejudo was born in Los Angeles, and he won an Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling as a 21-year-old phenomenon in 2008, becoming the youngest American to win a gold medal. CBS Sports also scored it 48-47 for the former champion.

"It wasn't like he blew me out of the water", Johnson said. I've lost before, when I fought Dom (Dominick Cruz). I want to fight the victor at 135 pounds and I deserve it. Demetrious Johnson didn't go up and they don't have to come down.

"I want the belt".

Cejudo, who fell to a first-round finish to Johnson in their first meeting in 2016, did what nobody has been able to do at flyweight and that's defeat the man who many believe to be the greatest fighter of all time. "I couldn't find my balance". It was muscle. When I had my [pre-fight] interview with Daniel Cormier and he said, 'How are you going to win this fight, ' I said composure. I wanna fight the victor at 135 pounds. Dillashaw used to train alongside Garbrandt but left the team in 2015.

Cejudo didn't have it all his own way, however, as Johnson utilised leg kicks in typically clinical fashion to test the resilience of his challenger.

With the fight hanging in the balance in the final round, Cejudo and Johnson held court in the center of the Octagon and exchanged strikes, but a late takedown by Cejudo likely secured the round and the title. With 2 minutes remaining in round 1, Cody catches Dillashaw with a possible knockdown only to be followed by a definite knockdown by Dillashaw. "The foot, that's just from kicking and kicking and kicking and kicking".
