According to the recent report by Sunday Mirror, Man Utd are set to complete a £60m move for Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld in the next 48 hours.

Manchester United are close to agreeing terms with Barcelona for Yerry Mina.

Manchester United have been searching desperately for a defender. The Red Devils have been regularly linked with the Belgian since the start of the transfer window and they now appear to be nearing an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur.

It is no secret that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been intent on strengthening his backline all summer, with Alderweireld emerging as the Red Devils' primary transfer target.

Manchester United also appear to be backing away from Mina, as a breakthrough in talks over a deal for Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld means that the Barca misfit is now just a fall back option - much like he made Everton.

The Belgium worldwide has just one year remaining on his current Spurs contract, although the club do have the option to trigger a 12-month extension next summer.

Even though it looked fairly straightforward from there it seems something stopped the transfer happening with the summer window set to shut within the week.

The defender did have a strong 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign, as he played an important hand in leading Belgium to the third-place finish in this summer's showpiece event.

With the two Premier League clubs having rescinded their offers, it now leaves Mina with no suitors at the current time.
