Soon after President Donald Trump admitted on Twitter Sunday that the 2016 meeting between members of his campaign and Russians in Trump Tower "was a meeting to get information on an opponent", his lawyer, Jay Sekulow, admitted he had "bad information" when he claimed previous year that Trump wasn't involved in crafting a misleading statement about that meeting.

Trump tweeted: "Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower".

Michael Cohen, Trump's longtime attorney and former fixer, is said to be prepared to testify that the President knew about the Trump Tower meeting ahead of time sources with knowledge of the matter told CNN.

Trump is denying he's concerned about the infamous Trump Tower meeting attended by his son, claiming it was "totally legal and done all the time in politics" while adding 'I did not know about it'.

Whether it's the Trump Tower meeting in June 2016, or private messages back and forth with Wikileaks, Don Jr.'s name continues to pop up in regards to the current Mueller probe.

The federal tax and bank fraud charges Manafort faces are not related to the Trump campaign but Manafort's close relations with Russians and a Kremlin-backed Ukrainian politician are under scrutiny in the trial.

That timeframe coincides with the length of Trump's vacation at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club, which is expected to last until August 13.

"They're talking about this blue wave", Trump said referring to way Democrats are depicted on electoral maps. Trump's legal team defended the statement as "short but accurate" in a letter sent to Mueller in January, as quoted in the New York Times.

Despite a show of force from his national security team this week as a warning against future Russian election meddling, Trump again deemed the matter a "hoax" this week.

Trump was joined for his Saturday rally in OH by former White House communications director Hope Hicks, who departed the administration earlier this year.

The statement contradicted earlier assertions by Trump administration officials that the meeting was about adoptions.
