North Korea said it has halted nuclear and missile tests and dismantled its nuclear test site as practical steps toward denuclearization, but it lashed out at the USA for unilaterally demanding North Korea denuclearize first.
White House national security adviser John Bolton on Tuesday said U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was prepared to return to North Korea for another meeting with Kim. The station had been used to test major long-range ballistic missiles and satellites.
In its statement, North Korea outlined "goodwill measures" it has taken since the historic meeting in June between President Trump and Kim Jong Un, including its discontinuation of nuclear testing and returning the remains of fallen Korean War soldiers to families in the U.S.
The two sides vowed to work towards North Korea's denuclearisation but have struggled to reach a deal to meet that goal, with the United States insisting sanctions pressure must be maintained during negotiations.
USA officials, according to North Korea, "are making baseless allegations against us and making desperate attempts at intensifying the global sanctions", against what they believe to be Trump's intentions to better relations between the two countries.
In the most recent sign of growing frustration between Washington and Pyongyang, North Korea criticised senior American officials for insisting that North Korea give up its nuclear weapons first before easing sanctions.

The report said: "North Korea has not stopped its nuclear and missile programs and continued to defy Security Council resolutions".
It has urged Washington to take reciprocal steps including officially declaring an end to the war and dropping sanctions.
