José Mourinho does not expect any Manchester United deadline-day signings

United have endured a hard summer transfer window as they have tried and failed to sign a host of defensive targets, with Tottenham centre-back Toby Alderweireld and Leicester's Harry Maguire among the names on their wish-list.

"I have to focus on the players I have and the next few matches".

Mourinho warned last weekend that a "difficult season" could lie ahead if they failed to strengthen the squad before the deadline.

When asked whether he expected to welcome a fresh additions to his United squad, Mourinho offered these comments: "The information I have is no".

"I also think the goalkeeper is a massive signing for them, one which I think will give them the confidence to go forward again and challenge Manchester City".

"They've got a manager in Jurgen Klopp who the players have got a lot of faith in and they've got fans who will keep this team going". "That is my experience at Barcelona and Bayern Munich".

This stunning Shaqiri and Sturridge link up is sending Liverpool fans wild

Guardiola says key players Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling are both available to face Arsenal on Sunday, after returning to training on Monday following their respective runs to the World Cup semi-finals with Belgium and England.

"Because it is very important how they feel and to understand how they think they can help or not help".

"It is hard for me to understand, to feel, to believe we finish second - which I keep saying".

Mourinho did confirm that Alexis Sanchez, who was a highlight for United over pre-season, is fit and firing though.

"Is hard for me to understand, to feel, to believe we finish second - which I keep saying, and it is sometimes hard to believe, that I won eight championships and three Premier League's but I keep feeling the second last season was one of my biggest achievements in the game".

Guardiola must be a little concerned about the inability to sign the central midfielder that he believed was a priority in May, but City's biggest issue might be their relative failure in last season's Champions League.
