The official launch event is taking place in India very soon but if you can't wait, there's already an unboxing video which gives us a clear look at the new "flagship killer".

Last week, Xiaomi announced a new sub-brand for its mobile phones, POCO.

GSMDome had obtained a full retail unit of the Pocophone F1 and the packaging is like any typical Xiaomi smartphone. The new Xiaomi sub-brand is spearheaded by the company's Jai Mani. For the first product, we got to basics and focus entirely on speed.

A Poco F1 was shortly available on Romanian site OLX, a local eBay competitor.

- The Poco F1, according the the hands-on video, will have a design reminiscent of the Mi 8 which invariably means that it would have an iPhone X-like design. Under the hood, the POCO F1 will be the powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor. It will be running on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI skin laid on top. Though the device sports rear-facing fingerprint sensor, there is a secured IR face unlock option.

The FCC approved the POCOPHONE brand back in July and the listing revealed that the phone will be packing a 6.4-inch screen with reduced bezels, meaning a lot of screen real estate in return.

For optics, the POCO F1 will feature a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup powered by AI features like other Xiaomi phones. Memory wise, it is expected to come with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

- The Pocophone F1 is further said to be backed by a 4,000mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The device is said to come with a 20MP front shooter for selfies with an LED flash.
