When you buy your 5G LG phone it will connect to Sprint's 5G network wherever available.
As announced in a press release today, Sprint says it's partnering with LG to release the very first 5G-equipped smartphone in the first half of 2019.
The "Now Network's" latest ambitious promise is the commercial release of the first 5G smartphone in the U.S., vaguely scheduled for sometime during "the first half" of next year.

LG Electronics said the cooperation with Sprint will pave the way for the company to expand ties with North American mobile carriers. Sprint's first 5G-ready Massive MIMO cell sites are capable of delivering up to 10 times the capacity of current LTE systems, significantly increasing data speeds for more customers in high-traffic locations. Apart from 5G, the new phone will also have the Snapdragon 855 chipset, better cameras, and other flagship features. The list of the cities to get 5G connectivity include-Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Washington DC.
