Now an associate editor at the Washington Post, Woodward is still best known for the fact that beginning in 1972 he and fellow journalist Carl Bernstein published a series of articles revealing salient details about the Watergate scandal and President Richard Nixon's role therein. "It would be easier to get things done if you're able to fully trust everyone around you". That could mean he's taking issue with one tiny thing or many; we simply don't know because he hasn't bothered, a week after the book's portrayal of him first came out, to dispute specific things.

Several administration officials, including Defense Secretary James Mattis and chief of staff John Kelly, have denied the anecdotes and quotes ascribed to them in Woodward's book.

And then the bombshell New York Times anonymous an op-ed titled "I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration" created a storm another the Trump administration.

The book claims that Trump falsely suggested that McCain took an early-release from the PoW camp in Vietnam-something that Mattis quickly told the President wasn't true.
