Apple chief executive Tim Cook unveiled the company's new iPhones in California on Wednesday. With smartphone penetration rates above 100 per cent in many key markets, including Australia, analysts have long questioned how the company will continue to keeping growing at high rates.
The iPhone XR is the cheapest of the three, thanks to its removal of more than a few desired features.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said it worked with Apple to develop apps for the Apple Watch and has been taking steps to ease the regulatory pathway for companies seeking to create digital healthcare products. The iPhone XR comes in a range of candy colours, is made from aluminium rather than stainless steel, has a single camera system and trades the OLED screen of its more expensive counterparts for an edge-to-edge LCD screen.
Apple just announced that its lower-cost iPhone is officially known as the iPhone XR.
Apple's new products aside, it's worth noting that Apple today seemingly axed a number of existing iPhones from its product lineup.
The iPhone XS and XS Max will be available to pre-order on Friday, September 14 and ship Friday, September 21 in the USA and other countries.
Apple didn't invent this big phone fashion.

Hurricane Florence packing a 'Mike Tyson punch', says top United States official

The phones are equipped with faster processors and better memory capacities than ever before, relying on Apple's new A12 Bionic chip.
It follows previous rumours that the company will introduce a larger screened 6.5in iPhone - allegedly the XS Max - alongside the new 5.8in display iPhone XS, which is the same size screen as last year's iPhone X.
Last year Apple softened the blow by keeping the home button on the more traditional iPhone 8.
The company is also launching a lower-cost 6.1inch version, the iPhone XR. Apple first announced the product last fall, promising the ability to charge an iPhone X, Apple Watch, and AirPods simultaneously without cables. Apple's brought back the "S" model, which means this model looks largely the same as the X from a year ago, but the guts of the phone have been beefed up in all the ways you'd expect. The iPhone XS has a 5.8-inch (14.7-cm) screen, the same as the original Apple handset. Though the iPhone SE is more than two years old at this point, the device is beloved by a small but vocal user base who simply prefer a smaller form factor at an extremely affordable price point. The new 12 megapixel cameras have bigger sensors and an improved HDR mode.
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are shipping in 64GB, 256GB or 512GB - the largest in-built storage ever shipped on an Apple-branded smartphone. The iPhone XR goes on sale October 26. Taken together, they help explain why Apple has little to fear from cut-rate Chinese smartphones or from the newly upgraded smart watches from Samsung.
Pre-orders for the iPhone Xs and Xs Max starts this Friday, September 14th.
