Google to kill Inbox early next year

Inbox, Google’s playground for email innovation, is going bye-bye

The search giant said Wednesday that it would "say goodbye" to Inbox at the end of March 2019. In the new experience, users can directly access actions on the emails within the Gmail inbox, snooze emails until a later time, send emails under a confidential mode, and more.

Inbox by Gmail was an app created in 2014, that would help users get more customisable email features. But as a user experience, as then senior VP Sundar Pichai explained in a blog post, Inbox was "designed to focus on what really matters". Numerous features we know and love from Inbox were brought into Gmail proper when they launched a much needed re-design back in April this year.

The service - which came in the form of iOS and Android apps and its own website - funneled mails from your Gmail account to a different, slightly more gesture-driven interface with its own unique set of options.

Does the iPhone XR have a new display? The new watch has an ECG sensor to detect the wearer's heart rhythm as well as heart rate. But the reaction so far isn't as heated as it was when Apple announced it was doing away with the headphone jack back in 2017.

One Inbox by Gmail feature that still hasn't made its way over to the standard Gmail service is the email bundling.

Unfortunately, Google looks to be shutting down the test lab as it mainlines more features to Gmail.

As the curtain falls, Google has prepared a guide for users transitioning from Inbox to Gmail, despite complaints from devoted Inbox users on Twitter. Vale Inbox, we truly loved you. Let us know in the comment section below.
