Major things are happenings on Modern Family.

Modern Family fans are in for an emotional new season after confirmation that an integral character is set to be killed off.

According to the series's co-creator Christopher Lloyd, the show's last season is going to take a dark turn as the family deal with the loss of a loved one.

Lloyd would not confirm whether the deceased character is one of the family's core members, but he did call the death, "a moving event - and an event that has repercussions across several episodes".

The suspense is already driving us nuts!

Indeed, as Lloyd told Entertainment Weekly, this season won't just feature the expected family drama laced with big laughs and situational comedy. "We do deal with a death. and on television, it's not easy to do because that's a heavy subject", he says.
