Ousted Guardians of the Galaxy director switches camps, tied to new DC Comics film

The Suicide Squad job is the first Gunn has taken since departing Guardians, for which he had been expected to make a third film.

Disney canned Gunn in July over a bunch of years-old, yet horribly offensive tweets - including comments about 9/11, AIDS, the Holocaust and rape.

After being ousted, Gunn received a tremendous outpouring of support from Marvel fans, his cast, and fellow Hollywood directors.

Following Disney's dismissal of Gunn, which happened just as San Diego Comic-Con was getting underway, his Guardians cast members all spoke out in favor of the director, imploring Disney to reconsider.

Nikki Haley, UN Ambassador, Announces Shock Resignation
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday UN Ambassador Nikki Haley is leaving the administration " at the end of the year ". Israel's United Nations ambassador, Danny Danon, in a statement praised the outgoing ambassador: "Thank you, Nikki Haley! ".

"My words of almost a decade ago were, at the time, totally failed and unfortunate efforts to be provocative", said Gunn.

"Regardless of how much time has passed, I understand and accept the business decisions taken today", he added. To everyone inside my industry and beyond, I again offer my deepest apologies.

It didn't take long for Dave Bautista to respond to the news that James Gunn will be writing and possibly directing Suicide Squad 2. There was a meeting between Gunn and Alan Horn, but the studio stuck to its guns in pushing out Gunn. Gunn was single-handedly responsible for making Guardians a premium brand for the MCU, despite a total lack of lack and his creative vision was enough to make Marvel Studios promote him to a higher position within the MCU's hierarchy to look at future opportunities. Our first-blush thought is a one-word "duh", as Gunn's propensity for dark, profane humor and redemption seems like a flawless fit for DC Comics' most blatant anti-hero collection of bad-guys-gone-good.

Ayer is likely preoccupied working on Bright 2, which follows up the Netflix feature film starring Suicide Squad veteran Will Smith.
