First lady’s plane lands safely after ‘mechanical issue’

News reported that the plane turned around and landed at Joint Base Andrews.

First Lady Melania Trump's official plane was forced to make an unexpected landing this morning amid reports of an onboard fire.

About 10 minutes after takeoff, reporters noticed a thin haze of smoke and detected a burning smell, according to CNN. The smoke and smell slowly dissipated.

It was not immediately clear what caused the problem on the aircraft, a Boeing C-32A identified as "Bright Star".
