The Hunter's Moon, owing to the orange-red tinge of the moon, is also known as blood moon.

This year's Hunter's Moon first appeared in the sky on Wednesday, October 24, at 5.45pm BST, just below the horizon.

'According to the Farmer's Almanac, with the leaves falling and the deer fattened, it is time to hunt, ' a NASA spokesperson said.

The Hunter's Moon will appear brighter, larger and clearer than a normal moon and you'll be able to see it no matter the weather conditions, though clear skies are always best for viewing astronomical events. Things changed slightly in 2018, with the Harvest Moon falling on september 24, just a few days after the autumnal equinox. For example, in southeastern Asia, October is usually known as the end of monsoon season, so that influenced the nickname for the month's full moon.
