Queen Elizabeth invites Meghan Markle's mom to United Kingdom for Christmas

Now, with the former actress having no immediate family to share her new life with, her majesty has reportedly made a decision to invite her mom, Doria Ragland (62), to spend Christmas at her private country house in Sandringham, England, Daily Mail reports.

Although this particular dinner at the Norfolk estate is an annual event, many royal insiders note the significance of the "thoughtful gesture" - Her Majesty has never extended an offer like this before, not even to Prince William's in-laws, the Middletons.

An emotional Doria was the only member of Meghan's family to attend her wedding to Prince Harry at Windsor Castle in May.

When the 92-year-old Monarch heard about it she told Doria she could come to Sandringham.

The invitation is believed to be a show of respect and also an acknowledgement that Markle has no other family in Britain. When Meghan launched her first solo project, the charity cookbook Together at Kensington Palace, Doria was on hand to support her daughter and declared that she was "head over heels" proud.

Kate Middleton's family has joined the royals at church on Christmas morning previously but have stayed at nearby Anmer Hall rather than Sandringham itself.

Doria Ragland has reportedly been asked to join the royals on Christmas day.

Meghan - who is thought to be around four months pregnant - wore the striking outfit during a walkabout in Rotorua on her last day in New Zealand with her husband. A friend of Meghan Markle's told Harpers Bazaar that "They stayed for five days and it was Prince Charles hosting them".

It looks like the Royal Family will be adding a seat to their Christmas table this holiday season.
