Ariana Grande Knew Pete Davidson Would Mention Her On ‘SNL’

Ariana Grande was in attractive voice if not necessarily graceful presence during her world premiere performance of "Thank U, Next" on "Ellen" Wednesday morning.

She dressed in a sort of pop-star permutation of a wedding dress, and she and her two backup singers did a heavily choreographed routine that, from what I understand, was based on the 1996 movie The First Wives Club, even though Grande has never been anyone's wife.

As for the performance, it was definitely live as she almost took a faceplant trying to step down from a chair on the wedding reception-inspired set.

Ariana Grande has been dealing with a lot lately from the passing of her ex (Mac Miller) to her breakup with fiance, Pete Davidson.

She sings: "Thought I'd end up with Sean/But he wasn't a match/Wrote some songs about Ricky/Now I listen and laugh".

Though the Ellen performance mostly goes off without a hitch, Grande and her companions mistakenly dance through the Ellen audience toward the studio exit when the song concludes. "We were supposed to come down?"

She helped organize the One Love Manchester concert a year ago, raising more than US$23 million for victims of the Manchester bombing. And for all those who insist everyone lip syncs these kinds of performances, Grande's laughter a couple of times puts that to rest.
