Exhibiting similar problems, a recently delivered Lion Air Boeing 737 Max 8 passenger plane crashed into the sea off Jakarta, Indonesia nearly two weeks ago with 189 people onboard.

Global plane manufacturer Boeing has issued airlines new guidelines warning of a potentially faulty sensor that may have caused the Lion Air Flight 601 crash tragedy.

The news agency noted that angle-of-attack errors can cause pilots to lose control of an aircraft and make it impossible to correct the course of a flight, and this was particularly an issue when jet aircraft were first entering circulation.

Aerospace and defense giant Boeing is planning to issue a safety warning to people flying its 737 Max jet, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.

"But it is quite straightforward and we train for this all the time", the captain said.

The 787 Max 8 is the second Boeing aircraft to experience serious technical problems soon after its introduction, leading some analysts to question whether Boeing may have overlooked quality concerns as it strives to meet rising global demand.

"The Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee has indicated that Lion Air flight 610 experienced erroneous input from one of its AOA (Angle of Attack) sensors", Boeing said.

"We also plan to conduct a flight reconstruction to see the impact of the AOA sensor damage in the engineering simulator at the Boeing facility in Seattle".

The directive comes a little more than a week after Lion Air pilots operating a 737 MAX 8 lost contact with Soekarno-Hatta's air traffic control (ATC) and crashed into the Java Sea, north of Indonesia's Java Island.

The jet's airspeed indicator malfunctioned on its last four flights, and that problem was related to the sensor issue, said Soerjanto Tjahjono, chairman of Indonesia's National Transportation Safety Committee, on Wednesday.

After an engine on a Southwest Airlines Co. plane fractured earlier this year over Pennsylvania, killing a passenger, CFM International Inc. issued multiple bulletins to operators of its CFM56-7B power plants.

"When there was a problem, the pilot would write it down and the mechanic would do (a repair). Then the plane would be declared airworthy". The agency said the pilots were dealing with an erroneous airspeed indication.

This warning extends to both Air Canada and WestJet pilots, since both the airlines use 737-Max planes regularly. Erroneous readings from the AOA sensor could push the plane into an aggressive, unwarranted dive.

The Lion Air crash is the worst airline disaster in Indonesia since 1997, when 234 people died on a Garuda flight near Medan. About 15 minutes into the flight, which took off from Jakarta, the plane plunged into the sea.

Meanwhile, the search operation to recover the passengers, crew and the airplane's cockpit voice recorder is ongoing.
