Police responded to a report of domestic violence on Tuesday. He was taken into custody in the building's lobby, the site reports.

"We can confirm that today LAPD Detectives arrested Michael Avenatti on suspicion of domestic violence", the LAPD tweeted. According to the sources, the accuser's face was "swollen and bruised" and she had "red marks" on both cheeks.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Deadline that Avenatti, 47, was booked and then released after posting $50,000 bail.

Avenatti said at the time that the lawyer owes him more than $US7 million. Further, she was not at Mr. Avenatti's apartment on the date that this alleged incident occurred. This was stemming from a domestic violence incident.
