Anthem's closed alpha starts in December. The event is closed and spots are very limited. For those interested, you need to register with EA's Community Playtest programme before 3 December. Then you also choose the best timings for you from the available play test sessions.

If playing Forza 4 Horizon, Red Dead Redemption 2 or Fallout 76 wasn't enough to fill your gaming docket for the next couple of months, Xbox gamers can now sign up to be a part of EA's new open world shooter game.

I have detailed instructions for you on how to sign up for the tests below. There will likely be other similar events for you to participate in prior to the official launch in February.

Alpha access registration is open to all, and not tied to pre-orders of the game or EA Access/Origin Access membership.

PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold are also required if you want to take part in the testing sessions on PS4 or Xbox One respectively.

In terms of the alpha's objective, EA explains, "It's an opportunity for you to check out Anthem but we'll also be adjusting things like matchmaking and server load on the fly". Don't worry, though, you'll have plenty more pre-release Anthem time when the expected BETA rolls out at some point next year, possibly sooner.
