And now Instagram has just added a whole new way of making you feel anxious with a "close friends" feature which lets you big up your best mates - and cruelly reject everyone else.

Instagram Stories is getting a bit more private today, for users who want to be. A green ring will also be displayed around their profile photo in the Stories tray.

To create a Close Friends list, simply go to your profile and tap on "Close Friends" in the side menu.

Your friends will not get to know whether you have added (or deleted) them in the "close friends" group. Nobody can request to be added to your list, which also only you can see. Whenever you share a story, you'll have the option of sharing it with everyone or just your Close Friends.

Instagram has added the ability for users to share stories with only a specific subset of people, rather than just anyone who follows them.

It's another indication Instagram is not slowing down in the wake of longtime company executive Adam Mosseri taking over after the abrupt departure of Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in October.
