Virat Kohli more than doubled his earnings of Rs 100.72 crore last year

Virat Kohli has been in top form on the cricket field in 2018 and that success has resulted in him becoming the richest sportsperson in Forbes India's list.

At No. 4 in the celebrity list, Deepika is the highest earning woman celebrity while co-actor Ranveer Singh is four places behind at No. 8 spot. "Past year it was 17 per cent lower at ₹2,683 crores".

Actor Salman Khan topped the list for the third consecutive year with Rs 253.25 crore earned through his film releases, TV appearances and brand endorsements.

Priyanka Chopra lost her last year's seventh rank (Rs 68 crore) and settled for No. 49 with Rs 18 crore as earnings in 2018.

Virat Kohli's earnings have been recorded at Rs 228.09 crore while Akshay's earnings are at 185 crore. She started her year with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus, Padmaavat that had domestic box office collection of more than Rs. 300 crores. Deepika Padukone, the only woman to be featured in the top 10, grabbed the fourth place, below Kumar, with an income of ₹112.8 crores.

Cricketers Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar have bagged the fifth (Rs 101.77 crore) and ninth (Rs 80 crore) positions.

"With cumulative earnings of Rs 3,140.25 crore, it was a lucrative year for the 100 celebrities on the list".

Fifteen celebrities on the list are from South India - Tamil and Telugu film industries have seven actors each, while Kerala has one.
