Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra who tied the knot with Nick Jonas over the weekend has responded to an article which alleged she "scammed" U.S. pop singer into marrying her.

Priyanka, 36, held onto Nick's hand as they walked to their waiting auto but not before stopping to pose for paparazzi photos.

A recent article in New York Times' The Cut drew widespread condemnation as it levelled allegations against Priyanka over her marriage to Nick. "These kind of random things can't disturb it", she said. "An earlier story about Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas did not meet our standards".

It came as Nick's brother Joe Jonas officially welcomed Priyanka, 36, into the family with a sweet message on Instagram.

Several Twitter users called the piece racist, arguing a white woman's consumption of luxury goods would attract less scrutiny than that of an Indian woman, as well as sexist, portraying Jonas as wide-eyed and honest, in contrast to the scheming Chopra.

French govt moots further concessions to pacify protesters
French protesters are welcoming Macron's decision to scrap a fuel tax rise - but say it may not be enough to contain public anger. The yellow vest protesters have called him "president of the rich". "The Yellow Vests wish to act on Saturday", he replied.

British actress Jameela Jamil has also responded to the article on Twitter, sarcastically stating it's "always fun being a South Asian woman in this world". The website, a part of NY magazine, replaced the article the next morning with an apology. It reeks of envy and bitterness. "Very disappointed that The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such bullshit".

The Cut updated the article before taking it down, seemingly to tone down the language. The whole piece missed the mark.

"There is no good explanation for this other than human error and poor judgment".

Everyone knows that Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas' relationship is nothing but true love and we're glad that a lot of people took a stand against hatred by supporting PeeCee and Nick.

Jonas was also decked out a Chopard piece during his wedding weekend, opting for a watch from the storied jeweler's collection.
