Frenkie de Jong issues statement ahead of January transfer window

According to Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly all but sealed a €75 million (£67 million) deal for Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

"It is nearly certain that De Jong, 21, will exchange Ajax for Paris Saint-Germain", popular tabloid De Telegraaf said.

The 21-year-old is now one of the most highly rated young players in world football and he, along with teammate Matthijs De Ligt, has been linked heavily with possible moves to Barcelona and Manchester City.

"You have the guys from Barcelona, the guys from Manchester City".

Current PSG star Kylian Mbappe had recommended the player and the idea of living in Paris was - unbelievably - more attractive to De Jong than the prospect of living in Manchester.
