Los Angeles Sparks Hire Derek Fisher As Head Coach

Derek Fisher and Phil Jackson were the Hollywood power couple that would revitalize the New York Knicks.

"I'm excited to be the new head coach of the LA Sparks", Fisher said in a statement.

Back in 2016, the New York Knicks fired former National Basketball Association player Derek Fisher following a 23-31 start to the season after going 17-65 in Fisher's first season in 2014-15.

Fisher, 44, has not coached at any level since the 2015-16 National Basketball Association season.

Fisher will inherit a team that includes two-time WNBA MVP Candace Parker.

Test That Detects Cancer in 10 Minutes Developed By Australian Researchers
It should be noted that the test can not determine which one cancer or at what stage. Currently, the test detects only the presence of cancer, not the type of cancer.

The Sparks announced the move Wednesday, five days after longtime WNBA coach Brian Agler resigned.

Two years ago, Agler guided the team to the WNBA Championship in 2016. He went 17-65 in his first year as head coach of the Knicks and was sacked the following season after the team's 23-31 record.

"Derek is a champion and proven leader on and off the court", Sparks executive vice president and general manager Penny Toler said. "Derek has been a strong supporter of women's basketball for quite some time, so it's nice to officially welcome him". He is the winningest coach in WNBA history.

An introductory press conference will be held Friday, Dec. 7, with more details to come.
