Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Binsburg spoke Friday at a welcoming ceremony for almost three dozen new USA citizens at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.
Ginsburg underwent surgery on Friday to remove two malignant growths in her left lung. Court officials say she has nearly fully recovered from her ordeal, and the Supreme Court will return for business on January 4.
"Justice Ginsburg was discharged from the hospital yesterday [25 December] and is recuperating at home", Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said in a statement. Ginsburg, 85, underwent the pulmonary lobectomy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NY.
It wasn't immediately clear whether Ginsburg's latest cancer bout is a recurrence of her pancreatic cancer or a primary lung tumor.
The nodules on her lung were found during X-rays and other tests Ginsburg had after she fractured ribs in a fall in her Supreme Court office on November 7, the court said. Ginsburg, 85, is still at a New York City hospital and no date has been set for her return to Washington.
