The iPhone X range could be manufactured in India by Tawainese manufacturer Foxconn's local unit for the first time.
According to the report, high-end iPhone development is slated to commence at Foxconn's Sriperumbudur plant, which is located in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.
For this, Foxconn will invest 25 billion Indian rupees ($356 million) to expand the plant, including investment in iPhone production. According to another source, the expansion will allow Apple to manufacture the more expensive models like the iPhone X line in the country.
Specifically, the report found that 16% of new iPhone owners in November were former Android users.
The analyst has almost halved expectations on the top-end iPhone XS Max while expecting the Cupertino company to produce 45 million iPhones for the quarter, down from its earlier forecast of 50 million. Meanwhile, Apple's iPhone XS models accounted for 35% of sales. Till date, Apple has assembled only the lower-cost iPhone models that include iPhone SE and iPhone 6S in India via Wistron Corp's facility in Bengaluru.
