The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge walked to church

During the event William was given a card to mark his wife's birthday, to which he said: "I did remember this morning - so I was OK".

Kate Middleton is believed to be celebrating her birthday in private with family. William headed to the Royal London Hospital in honor of London's Air Ambulance Charity, for which he was just announced as a patron of their 30th Anniversary Campaign.

Though Prince William kept mum about birthday plans for the day, it's likely that the Cambridges will spend it quietly at home in each other's company.

She thanked the public for their "lovely messages" as she celebrated.

The duchess is expected to be marking the occasion on Wednesday with William and their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
